The drive through coffee shop is one of the many small businesses that make Sonoma so special. Serving up traditional Italian style coffee, over 30 flavors of chai, and pastries made with local ingredients, Scooteria earns its place as the best coffee in the valley.

Cafe Scooteria is owned by Nick & Carissa Grimm who opened up shop (literally) in 2011. Combining his love of coffee, vintage scooters, and customizing vehicles, Nick bottled it all up as Sorento Imports & Cafe Scooteria. The many working parts of 455 W. Napa Street might scare some, but Nick & Carissa have simply found ways to turn their passions into businesses that have become icons within Sonoma.

Behind the three-wheeled cafe you'll find the vintage style building of Sorento Imports. A place to buy, service, and customize scooters. Nick and Carissa specialize in customizing scooters into food carts - and not only have an in-depth knowledge of health code laws, but also a keen eye for design (take their Gelato cart for example!).

Kelly and I got the full experience...on scooters! Truth be told, we usually start our days together at Cafe Scooteria, fueling up for styling projects and shoots. On this particular day, we were on board Kelly's scooters. We ordered up the usual, I resisted a donut, and Nick double checked that our scooters were in tip-top shape before we headed on down the road to the Savvy office.

It was my first time driving a scooter, and it was terrifying. But after about five minutes, it was exhilarating, fun, and absolutely hilarious. I loved every minute of it. Kelly and I cruised out to Fremont diner and later, to her daughter's kinder-graduation. Driving through the back roads of Sonoma on a Vespa should be on everyone's bucket list, luckily Sorento Imports rents them out for the day, so you can check that one off by the weekend!

If you've got a free day in Sonoma, we suggest heading to Cafe Scooteria, renting a scooter for the day, and cruising around the valley. Head to the square, Fremont Diner, or even Cornerstone Sonoma!
