Dia de Los Muertos with Encore Events Rentals

Since Dia de Los Muertos- the day of the dead- is celebrated on November 1, we teamed up with Encore Events Rentals to bring you some spooky inspiration for a themed celebration of your own. A fun alternative to the typical Halloween party, Dia de Los Muertos is typically celebrated with lively parties, bright colors, and fabulous food- all things we love here at A Savvy Lifestyle!

For those of you who aren't familiar with this holiday, Dia de Los Muertos is celebrated predominately in Latin America, but originated in Mexico. The day of the dead honors the deceased with festivals and lively celebrations that are a mix of aztec traditions and catholicism. Originally it was thought that somber celebrations and mourning would offend the dead, so the day of the dead focuses on celebrating those who have passed away by enjoying all the things they loved in life. Common symbols of the holiday are calacas and calaveras (skeletons and skulls), and they are generally depicted as enjoying life with happy expressions on their faces.

When creating our design inspiration board that you see below, we wanted to focus on the bright colors Dia de Los Muertos is most famous for. Vibrant floral arrangements or accents are a great way to bring the day of the dead traditions to your tabletop. Candelabras and votive candles add a layer of depth to your table, while simultaneously creating a romantic, spooky ambiance. Don't forget to include some calveras or calacas on your tabletop or in your decor as they are a signature of the holiday!

All of the rental pieces you see above are available at Encore Events Rentals if you feel inspired to throw a Dia de Los Muertos party of your own this November 1! See the specifically linked pieces below.
