The Marin Country Mart in Larkspur, CA is a collection of restaurants and shops on the water. In addition to food and shopping, the Marin Country Mart plays host to a number of events, like the local farmer's market, and Off the Grid Market.
We loved our trip to Farmshop CA's Larkspur location, so when we heard that there was a new wine and cheese bar opening at the Marin Country Mart we couldn't wait to check it out.
Although Fisher's Cheese + Wine was not technically open yet when we visited, their team opened their doors to us for a little sneak peek.
Being from wine country, we have seen a cheese plate or two and Fisher's was easily one of the most beautiful. The charcuterie and cheese spread presented to us by the team at Fisher's was breathtaking- with several kinds of cheese, crackers, olives, pickled beets, and fresh vegetables.
The passion for great food and cheese at Fisher's was extremely apparent in the attention to detail in this cheese board. Each item was carefully selected and curated to be enjoyed with one another.
As if the cheese and charcuterie weren't delicious enough on its own, Fisher's paired it all with a bottle of 2016 Matthiasson rosé. It sounds cliche, but this wine was about as perfect as it could get for a hot summer day, and was the greatest accompaniment to our cheese board.
One of Fisher's signature items- the pimento cheese spread- was truly out of this world. It was good on everything- bread, crackers, carrots, radishes, you name it. It is definitely a must-try item from their menu. We also heard a rumor that they will be selling this pimento spread to go...
Fisher's likes to say that their selection is not comprehensive, but it is truly the "good stuff", the hard to find items that only the experts and local cheese lovers know about. Their staff's knowledge and love of cheese will be passed along at their soon-to-be weekly evening classes, but can also be tapped into with a simple stop into their darling store front during regular hours.
Our second stop of the day was International Orange. This luxury day spa has locations on both sides of the Golden Gate Bridge, and gets its name from the bridge's infamous "international orange" color paint.
The Marin Country Mart location boasts a 6,000 square foot space. The brightly lit entryway plays host to a number of natural beauty products and hand selected lifestyle items. You are then escorted back through the double doors, and given a locker and robe to change into. Guests are invited to steam, lounge, or enjoy the outdoor patio before their appointments.
I enjoyed an International Orange In Fiore Facial. Beginning with the signature In Fiore 4-2-4 cleanse and ending with IO’s coveted Slap, Tap and Roll massage, this dynamic facial journey will elevate your skin to new heights. A dual-step treatment process includes a pumped up Lucense brightening peel packed with bearberry, licorice and alpha hydroxy acids which is followed by a wild-harvested mineral concoction to further penetrate antioxidants and nutrients into the skin. In Fiore is a luxury botanical beauty line that harnesses the transformational power of plant therapy. They use ingredients of only the most extraordinary quality and import certified organic or wild crafted essential oils, herbs, and floral waters from producers all over the world.
Although we have only just dipped our toes into the surface of what is going on at the Marin Country Mart, we had a wonderful afternoon sipping and shopping around the sunny marketplace. The coffee shops, eateries, and designer boutiques are a joy to explore, with several new additions on the horizon! The Mart can be easily accessed from both Marin and San Francisco, via ferry boat. We would highly recommend you spend some time here and would love to hear your favorite spots at the Marin Country Mart!
