A Mother's Day Cocktail by the girl & the fig

Mother's Day will be here before you know it, and what better way to celebrate your mom than brunch and a special cocktail?

The girl & the fig is one of the best brunch spots in Sonoma, and they are our go-to spot for brunch this Mother's Day. We teamed up with their amazing team and brought back a recipe for the Estate's Fellini from Plats du Jour by the Girl & the Fig Owner, Sondra Bernstein. 

A fairly straightforward champagne cocktail, the Estate's Fellini packs a surprising punch. Featuring flavors of blood orange, lemon, and champagne this tangy libation pairs perfectly with brunch food of all sorts. Think house smoked salmon, quiche lorraine, almond pancakes, or a house made ham hash.

Estate's Fellini- Makes 2 Cocktails

2.5 Ounces Limoncello

2 Ounces Blood Orange Purée

Sparkling Wine

Orange Wedges or Slices, For Garnish

In a mixing glass filled with ice, combine the limoncello and blood orange purée. Mix to chill. Strain the mixture into two champagne flutes, dividing equally. Top with well-chilled sparkling wine and garnish with an orange wedge or a slice.

We used the HelloCello Limoncello di Sonoma from prohibition spirits- a local distillery that has perfected their limoncello, crafted of local lemons soaked in high proof distilled grain alcohol and agave sugar. They also make OrangeCello, FigCello, and other hand-crafted spirits. Visit their distillery tasting room at Cornerstone, Sonoma to taste it all! The girl and the fig also opted for a local company when choosing the blood orange purée. The Perfect Purée of Napa Valley creates premium purees, concentrates, zests, and blends to be used by chefs and mixologists alike across the United States and internationally. 

We topped our cocktails off with French bubbles from a bottle of Pol Clément Brut. This was the perfect addition to the Fellini with hints of apple and citrus, and nuances of toasted bread and dried fruit.
