Although we often drink and eat our weight in wine and cheese, wine country is booming with fitness studios, including Pure Barre! Barre classes have become trendy overnight, and it is now a tried and true method to tone, lift, and define muscles. Our blog editor Emily is a pure barre teacher (and addict) and she sat down with Sonoma studio co-owner Meg Elliot to give you all a peek into the Pure Barre world.
"The barre is our guide. Our diversity is what makes us strong. And, our ability to transform your body and mind is what makes us pure." - Meg Elliot, owner & instructor
Pure Barre's classes bring people together as a community, and is one of the reasons it is so easy to get hooked. Each class is a group of people striving to get healthier- a group rooted in much more than a workout. It's roots are in ballet and Pilates but the technique today is designed to challenge and change every body at any fitness level. Every class is a little bit different than the last, and the techniques are constantly evolving to make sure that clients don't ever get bored or reach a plateau.
So you may be thinking, "there are a million different studios that teach barre- what makes pure barre different?" Meg first experienced the Pure Barre vibe in Seattle, Washington and immediately fell in love. The community and energy inside a Pure Barre studio is completely unique, but the technique and results of the workouts also set it apart from other barre classes.
"I wasn't always into group fitness classes, and thought I needed to be doing insane amounts of cardio to see change in my body. When I started Pure Barre, I dropped 15 pounds, and have never been happier with my body or mind for that matter!" -Meg Elliot, owner & instructor
Aside from getting to wear workout clothes for a living, Meg says her favorite part about owning a studio and teaching Pure Barre has been helping others to become stronger from the inside, out. Seeing her clients push themselves to new heights, celebrating in their successes, and helping them through their struggles all contribute to her love and passion for the business.
Meg credits a great deal of the atmosphere inside her studios to the team of instructors. She co-owns the Sonoma studio with her sister, Piper, who is also a teacher. Together, Meg and Piper have pulled together a team of bright, motivated, and truly kind women to bring Pure Barre to the Sonoma community.
"There is no better time than now to start. Don't wait for tomorrow, don't wait for the new special, the new trend, the new gear... start now. You aren't alone in this journey- find your tribe, your people that will support you, stand by you, and push you! We at Pure Barre will be right there by your side!" - Meg Elliot, owner & instructor
Like any other workout method, you will get the most out of Pure Barre with dedication and perseverance- the more you put in the more you will get out!
