Caitlin and Andrew wanted a black tie wedding that felt like home. Comfortable, yet elegant. Colorful, yet understated. With Kelly’s help they created a ceremony and reception that fit perfectly within the beauty of Annadel Estate Winery, almost as if it was meant to be in that space every single day. Annadel is full of rich landscapes and historic buildings, and the decor was only meant to add to and accentuate the natural beauty of the property, while bringing in personal touches from Caitlin, Andrew, and their families. All of these elements combined created a warmth of home and family within the formality and elegance of a black tie wedding. Their wedding was recently featured on Martha Stewart Weddings, here.
The backdrop for the ceremony was inspired by elements within the ruins at Annadel where the ceremony was held. The stone color of the drapes was pulled from the rocks that make up the walls of the old winery (the ruins). The hanging flowers pulled in elements within the bridal party bouquets, creating the illusion that the backdrop might be part of the landscape itself. In a more practical sense, the backdrop was also meant to keep the guests from seeing the dinner area during the ceremony.
Drawing upon decor from Caitlin and Andrew’s home, Turkish rugs lined the ceremony aisle, creating a runner. Bringing in these rugs so similar to the ones in their own home, the ceremony was symbolic of their current life together, as well as their future life together as husband and wife. The couple also felt it brought in an element that expressed their love for travel, and international style.
The lounge areas were another element in which Caitlin and Andrew wanted to make their guests feel at home. They were cozy, comfortable, and approachable- a place for their guests to relax and overlook the dinner and dancing going on in the tent below them.
Even the bar had a personal touch, including portraits of the bride and groom's parents and grandparents on their own wedding days.
Cocktail hour was a beautiful, understated affair that took place underneath the sprawling trees that Annadel Estate Winery is known for.
The guests then moved to the lower lawn for dinner and dancing under a spectacular white tent. The design of dinner carefully balanced modern, bold, elements with traditional, delicate pieces. The beauty of the photographs truly speak for themselves.
