In 2015, the Hencmann's purchased what was once Grandma Linda's ice cream parlor, and have since turned it into the new Sonoma classic: Sweet Scoops Ice Cream.
The Hencmann's found Grandma Linda's Ice Cream from a google search, but it wasn't just a random life change for them. Joe had been in the business since high school, working at an award winning ice cream parlor in Denver called Bonnie Brae Ice Cream, where he learned the tricks of the trade, and more importantly, developed an understanding for the importance of community within the business and the customer (which the family has integrated seamlessly within their shop).
The Hencmann's decided that Sonoma would be the perfect place to raise their two children, and knew that moving closer to their San Francisco based family was also appealing to them.
Once the couple purchased Grandma Linda's
By now you know how big of fans we are of Pangloss Cellars - so it should come as no surprise that my favorite Sweet Scoops flavor is made with Pangloss wine. Joe Hencmann's comes up with unique flavors, and adds his own twist to the classics, then offers them to the public because he is a giving individual. Just kidding - it's their business, but it is definitely a gift to those who have the opportunity to travel to the shop, and I would definitely be willing to pay as much for a scoop of their ice cream as I am willing to pay for a glass of great wine.
