When I describe The General's Daughter to people I always start out with, "one of the most quaint buildings I've ever been in." If you've been, I think you can agree, it's the kind of place that was made to host tea parties, and intimate gatherings.
The 1864 Victorian was once the home of General Valejo's daughter & husband, and has been restored into a beautiful event space. Last year, the venue housed many of Oh So Inspired's events (including the amazing welcome party), and served as the perfect spot for learning, eating, and networking.
I fell in love with the botanical prints hanging on the perfectly colored lavender walls, but that's another story for another day. Today I want to talk to you about Pizza & Pinot. Every Tuesday from 5-8 pm, you can drop in for artisan wood fired pizzas for twenty bucks. The menu includes wine, salad, pizza, and dessert. They've even got a kiddo menu, and gluten free crust options.
Kelly and I popped in a few weeks ago with her husband and kids. We were delighted by the flavors of the pizzas - let's just say they weren't your typical cheese and pepperoni (but would you expect anything less from Ramekins?). Her kids were pleased to see kumquats in the salad, and I was pleased to see wine in my glass, and pizza on my plate. As we sat by the fire and chatted about our day's activities, I looked around and noted that everyone was truly enjoying themselves. I didn't see any phones out, and laughter floated throughout the air. There was even a couple relaxing on the front porch in rocking chairs. It doesn't get any more relaxed than that! It was wine country living at its best: relaxed dining among friends with local wines and great conversation flowing.
Kelly and I suggest heading over right after work to snag an outdoor table by the fireplace. Don't be surprised if you run into friends, as this seems to be the thing to do every Tuesday (for good reason!). The family style tables
PS - be sure to save room for dessert!
